The music for Sound Ancestors is done by Madlib. Edited, arranged and mastered by Kieran Hebden. Kieren Hebden shares, “I was listening to some of his new beats and studio sessions when I had the idea that it would be great to hear some of these ideas made into a Madlib solo album ... arranged into tracks that could all flow together in an album designed to be listened to start to finish ... we decided to work on this together with him sending me tracks, loops, ideas and experiments that I would arrange, edit, manipulate and combine. I was sent hundreds of pieces of music over a couple of years.” Another phenomenal project by Madlib; one of the most eclectic and most prolific producers of our generation! Not many producer out there are willing to jump in the 'ring' with Madlib on a Versuz battle. Even Alchemist politely/respectfully declined, saying something like "he would destroy me." I respect that nod to the OG. Madlib responded by saying, "King Alchemist is actually my teammate for those that don't know. One of the illest ever."
