Rapsody "Please Don't Cry" (Album Stream)

Rapsody is ready to embrace the unknown. On her fourth studio album, Please Don't Cry, the North Carolina rapper weaves together disparate experiences to create a truly unique and unforgettable sonic gem. It's the mark of an artist who is unafraid to draw on lifelong influences to find their true voice. Her 2023 single, "Asteroids," reignited the public's demand for forward-thinking stylistics and pointed songwriting. Her discography spans over a decade and has made a lasting impact on hip hop culture, avid music listeners, fans and critics alike. Rapsody is preparing to pull back the curtain on who Marlanna Evans is. The tightly wrapped album is a more self-aware version of Rapsody as she reconciles with the past to empower her future. It explores the depth of her technical dexterity with more vulnerability than prior releases. It's a record that sets her apart from the rest, cementing Rap's status as one of the best storytellers of all time. - Amazon Music. Listen below...

Rapsody "Eve" (Album Stream)

Eve is the third studio album from North Carolina's Rapsody. Each track on this 16-track release pays homage to influential black women, including Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Myrlie Evers, Aaliyah and more. The project features production and instrumentation from from 9th Wonder, Eric G., DJ Battlecat, Khrysis, Nottz, Terrace Martin and more. Eve also has vocal appearances from D'Angelo, GZA, Mereba, Elle Varner, JID, SiR, Queen Latifah and J. Cole. Empowering lyrics and strong production throughout, it is easily one of the more important Hip-Hop albums to be released in recent memory. I suspect it will be heavily championed and rightfully so. Please check it out below...

Rapsody "Laila's Wisdom" (Album Stream)

Laila's Wisdom is the second studio album by American rapper Rapsody, released by Jamla Records and Roc Nation. It is Rapsody's first album released under her partnership with Roc Nation. The album features collaborations with Kendrick Lamar (who Rapsody previously worked with on Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly), Anderson Paak, Busta Rhymes, Lance Skiiiwalker, Black Thought, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Musiq Soulchild, among others. This is the album I've been waiting for from Rapsody! A lot can be said, but it's best you listen for yourself, and expect Rap to keep leveling up each time out.

Rapsody "Crown" (EP Stream)

"Crown" is a 10-track EP from North Carolina's Rapsody. It features Raphael Saadiq, Ab-Soul, Anderson Paak and Moonchild, as well as production from 9th Wonder, Nottz, Eric G, Khrysis & Kash. Another solid release from JAMLA's first lady, as she continues to soak up market share across all demographics. Tune into the "Crown" EP below, I am not sure if physical copies will be available.

9th Wonder "Rhythm Roulette" (Mass Appeal, Video)

Rhythm Roulette is a YouTube series, hosted by Mass Appeal, where producers give us an inside look at their process of making beats ... and their in-house studios. Each producer is blindfolded before choosing three records from a local record store to use for their samples. Their latest guest is North Carolina's highly acclaimed producer and educator, 9th Wonder. After visiting the Record Krate in Raleigh, NC, he emerges with Charly McClain, The Temprees and Jermaine Jackson "with the Michael Jackson knock-off coat on." I won't tell you how it goes, but suffice to say, 9th's personality and the joy in his creation will spark inspiration and this will easily be one of the series' most popular episodes. Be sure to watch until the end to hear Rapsody spit some bars on the spot! I'm not a producer, but I definitely enjoyed this video, and I'm sure you will, too! Dig into it below...

Rapsody "Beauty & The Beast" (EP Stream)

JAMLA’s first lady has finally released her new project, Beauty & The Beast. The Soul Council-produced 10-track EP features Heather Victoria, Problem and more, and is mixed and mastered by the venerable icon, Young Guru. I think we're still being introduced to a talent in the making, a defining full-length is on the way and it'll be way more personal, empowering, and cerebral, but I'm enjoying the journey. Stream the EP below. (Updated: Deluxe Edition added below & I'm inclined to agree with what I said here, albums have since dropped and they were fantastic, earning much deserved praise!). Three more tracks have been added in the deluxe edition, check it out below...
