Maticulous "The Expanse" (Album Stream)

Brooklyn-based producer maticulous returns with his latest project, The Expanse, which is an exploration of time and space, both musically and personally. The record veers from the usual producer-album approach by shying away from the feature-heavy norm, focusing instead on one artist per song to develop a complete story on each track. “The inspiration for The Expanse flows from a long stretch of being stagnant, which renders the tracks with a variety of new sounds and ideas,” maticulous says. From the incomparable eLZhi’s tragic tale on “Two Kids” to the jarring, jaded truth of Rasheed Chappell’s “Bitter Pill” to The Audible Doctor’s “Butterfly Effect,” which closes the album with optimism and reflection, The Expanse once again proves that maticulous is among the elite in the world of modern hip hop producers. maticulous "no caps" (Album Stream)

After producing for others over the past several years, Brooklyn-based producer maticulous puts the spotlight on his gifts as an artist with his new compilation, no caps. His production, pacing, and sequencing all truly shine on here, as well as his ability to pick just the right guest emcees to appear on his instrumentals. Whether it’s Guilty Simpson expertly crafting a narrative on “Home Goin’” or yU and Uptown XO talking their sh*t on “Bein’ This Nice,” no caps is brimming with standout features. It makes sense, then, that maticulous calls this his “favorite project to create” to date. “It was born out of being completely locked down for months,” he says. “I would wake up everyday, listen to records, and become inspired with the only expectation of wanting to create music.” That time resulted in the creation of six of the eight instrumentals you hear on no caps, with the upbeat and soulful “Everything” being one of the two exceptions. He actually made that beat in 2012, and it stayed one of his favorites for years. But as he was putting together this project, he just felt it was time for the world to hear it—and he’s not wrong. Skyzoo and Justo The MC do their thing on the track, making it one of the best on here. More than anything else, however, maticulous just wants this release to be a breath of fresh air for listeners. “It’s very easy, for hip-hop especially, to get stuck in a formula,” he says. “One person has success and a hundred people try to make the same sounding stuff. Justo The MC & maticulous return with their second full length album since their first offering in early 2019, "Mind Of A Man." Their debut landed the duo on many year end lists, live performances, as well as earning appearances on notable radio shows, namely Live From Headquarterz wit DJ Premier in addition to Rap Is Outta Control with DJ Eclipse & DJ Riz on Sirius XM. "County of Kings" is the continuing evolution of an emcee and producer who abandon the flavor of the moment approach, but rather strive to make the listening experience timeless. Justo The MC & Maticulous "Mind Of A Man" (Album Stream)

Justo, who came up under the Gang Starr Foundation, has worked with Lord Finesse, Rockwilder, Marco Polo and DJ Skizz, releasing numerous projects, most recently “Black Ops,” produced entirely by Showbiz of DITC. maticulous, who came up under Fat Beats NY, has delivered several producer albums and instrumental projects having produced for the likes of MF Doom, Masta Ace, Your Old Droog, Lil' Fame of M.O.P., Blu, RA the Rugged Man and many more. After a chance meeting at SiriusXM studios, the duo started to craft what would become “Mind Of A Man.” This album showcases the feeling of Brooklyn hip hop that stands firm on tradition, giving you that true school flavor you’ve been missing. Audimatic "The Manual" (EP Stream)

This is last years free release of "The Manual EP" from Audimatic: The Audible Doctor on the mic & Maticulous on the beats. As Fat Beats alumni, the connection between AMD & Maticulous goes back several years and the chemistry is felt on the project. Coming in at just 6 tracks, it's a short EP with no features, but plenty of soul. They shine best on the tracks "Closer" and "New Shit" but definitely download the full EP and dig into it today. A year later, I'm still waiting on some new music from the duo, let's hope it comes through sooner than later. Peace to my Fat Beats brothers!
