DJ Rhettmatic Loops, Chops, Beats, & Vibes" (Vol. 1-2)

The first official project being released on Beat Junkie Sound is DJ Rhettmatic's previous Beat Tape albums "Loops, Chops, Beats, & Vibes" Vol 1 and 2, on cassette tape. It is a limited edition cassette tape with an Obi Strip, colored graphics on the tape shell and personally numbered by DJ Rhettmatic himself. Only 100 made with 2 bonus beats that's available only on the tape. I think I originally shared the original instrumental album in 2018, on Rhettmatic's birthday, but as it says, there are additional beats and it's chopped a little differently in this cassette release. Needle Drops "Volume 5" (Presented by Dusty Donuts)

Dusty Donuts presents Needle Drops, a monthly DJ streaming show where four selected world-class DJs tell a story in their own way, just through the selection of seven 45s in the mix. The show is delivered through Twitch and FaceBook live. For the fifth episode of Needle Drops, the theme is 7 records from around the world and the world-class DJs are DJ Rhettmatic, DJ Matman, Dusty Donuts' Marc Hype and DJ Robert Smith from Berlin (dig in the archives for his Notorious B.I.G. mix!). DJ Rhettmatic "Loops, Chops, Beats & Vibes" (Instrumental Album)

"As you know, to celebrate my birthday every year, I always try to do my best to make some music & share it as a way to say thank you, but this particular project was a bit of a struggle... So what I did instead was use Pro Tools as my way of making beats this time. No drum programming, playing keys and basslines; just straight chopping up, looping, layering samples from records, cut and paste style....basically, on some Raw Sh*t!! It was more tedious & time consuming than my other methods of doing beats, but I have to tell you, it was hella fun. I just listened to bunch a records, recorded it, sample, chop, and however the final product came out, mistakes and all, this is what you're listening to right now. No overthinking, just went with the flow. It was pretty liberating. Anyways, as always, this is my way to celebrate another year on this planet and my humble way to say thank you to everyone that has directly or indirectly, supported, inspired, motivated me in one capacity or another. 14KT "DAMN U Mix" (Part 1 & 2, 2010)

If you're a fan of Ypsilanti's producer/MC 14KT, then diggin' into the archives for older material is never a loss. Below are two episodes from Karat Gold Radio... the 1st episode was recorded ahead of the 2010 Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battle, where 14KT was a finalist. The Athletic Mic League / Lab Techs producer linked up with DJ Rhettmatic of the World Famous Beat Junkies to release the "DAMU U" mix they did featuring some of 14KT's best production. The second episode announced that 14KT had WON the Red Bull Beat Battle championship! To celebrate, 14KT connected with DJ Graffiti to hit y'all in the head with a second part to the "DAMU U" mix that KT and Rhett had created previously. It features some of 14KT's best production and includes beats that 14KT featured in the battles. You'll hear tracks and remixes with Invincible, Jay Electronica, Erykah Badu, Obie Trice, Buff1, Kanye West, Danny Brown and more. DJ Rhettmatic & DJ Shortkut "On The Road Again" (2000)

DJ Rhettmatic and DJ Shortkut collaborated on the On The Road Again mix tape in 2000. The cassette was released on their Beat Junkie Sound imprint and featured tracks from Dilated Peoples, Visionaries, Styles of Beyond, The Creators, Foreign Legion, Swollen Members, Royce Da 5'9, Muro, Square One, Reflectional Eternal, Slum Village, Phat Kat, Phife Dawg, Guru, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Cali Agents and more. As a hip-hop head on the East Coast, the track selection for this mix tape wasn't my particularly my favorite at the time, but revisiting it all these years later, I hear a lot good elements that I overlooked back in 2000. J.Rocc & DJ Rhettmatic "Blunt Sessions, Vol.1" (Mix, 2006)

I almost skipped over this particular mix years back because I thought it was some 420-themed mix and I woulda been dead wrong! The Dynamic Duo of J.Rocc and DJ Rhettmatic created a fine mix of nearly 40 tracks featuring Coco T & Shabba Ranks, Jeru The Damaja, Lil' Dap, Black Moon, Nas, Boogie Down Productions, Pete Rock & Method Man, Gravediggaz, Queen Latifah, Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, The Beatnuts, Mobb Deep, Gang Starr, Muro, James Brown and a mix of others. I'd consider this one of their more slept-on projects, so it's time to revisit it today! Listen below...

DJ Rhettmatic "The Wedding Mixer" (Mixtape)

"Back in 2002, Key-Kool of the Visionaries asked me on behalf of his brother, if I was available to DJ his brother's wedding reception...the only thing is, the wedding was to be held in Hawaii. At that time, I couldn't make it out because I had something already scheduled, and at the same time, Key's brother & his soon-to-be-wife couldn't afford to get a DJ at the last minute. So to help out Key's brother and to serve as a wedding gift as well, I made a mixtape specifically for Key's brother & future wife to play at their wedding reception. The mixtape was filled with all the classic 70's & 80's joints that can get a party going & music that basically Key's brother grew up listening to. I used the original vinyl for this mix & recorded it on old 4-track cassette recorder before I got Pro-Tools & before Serato was actually released."
