Throw both of those right out the window when you consider whether to click play on this phenomenal beat tape from Fayetteville, North Carolina's D.R.U.G.S Beats, entitled Leftovers. Damn, D.R.U.G.S Beats put his foot in this Vinyl Frontier Beat Tape. 22-minutes long and pure fire! Like many fans, I first heard D.R.U.G.S on House Shoes' Street Corner Music with his instrumental release, The Gift. My artist, Supastition, has always kept him in high regard too, which means I keep an eye out for his releases, too. As a now-Grammy nominated producer - thanks to his work on Dr. Dre's Compton album - it's dope that we still get these random beat tape drops. Los Angeles based Rapper / Engineer Tenacity and Grammy nominated producer D.R.U.G.S. Beats recently joined forces to create this collaborative project, "Discussions". The musical duo’s first album together introduces 13 forward-thinking tracks that focus on a variety of societal issues and current events that have affected a vast amount of people around the world. Detroit MC Fatt Father and D.R.U.G.S Beats have collaborated on a new project entitled Veterans Day. The 22-track offering features Royce Da 5'9, Kuniva, Miz Korona, Nolan The Ninja and more. Fatt Father shares that they have "cooked up the ultimate feast with all of the trimmings; every verse, hook, bass line, feature and sample is well-crafted and adds to the album's rawness." DRUGS, whose name is attributed to the addictive properties and high potency of his music, hails from Fayetteville, NC. He first began experimenting with music at the age of thirteen. While he was in high school he began analyzing beats and searching for his own future source material to make beats from. This was DRUGS’ beginning as a beatmaker/producer. From the mid 00’s to now, DRUGS honed his craft and eventually sold beats professionally to notable artists like Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Big Boi, Ludacris, Marv Won & Fattfather. In previously writing about DRUGS’ beats on Medium last year, I famously said “These beats make me want to sell crack rock on a skateboard while wearing Iron Man’s armor in a school zone during recess. I heard some of the jawns on this cat’s SoundCloud and I made ugly faces to rival Tyrone Hill pre-sneeze. These slaps make me want to run through multiple plate glass windows like Master P at the end of the If I Could Change video.
