DJ 4our 5ive "Pete Rock & CL Smooth: Makings Of You" (Mixtape)

I vaguely remember having the cassette version of DJ 4our 5ive's The Makings of You, which is a tribute to the legendary duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth. The mix tape features classic group cuts, a brief interview with Sway, and some featured production work from Pete Rock with INI, Public Enemy, Grand Puba, Run DMC, Big L, Method Man, Wu-Tang and Prodigy, plus more! I was a fan of DJ 4our 5ive's GZA and 2Pac mix tapes and I believe I've posted up his Nas and Biggie tapes, too.

Bronx-born and Long Island raised, DJ 4our 5ive has a long history in the music industry. I've heard several of his mixtapes over the years and I always gravitate towards tribute mixes, so it's a no-brainer to support this mix of classic joints from Nas. I've lost count of how many I've already posted, but what's wrong with another Nas mix? Nothing! 4our 5ive's mix includes joints from many of the best projects in Nas' catalog, as well as remixes and features with Noreaga, Mobb Deep, Raekwon, Ghostface, The Firm, Large Professor, and more. There's nothing new here, but... it's Nas!

DJ 4our 5ive "The Best of Old School Hip-Hop" (Volume 1)

I'm not sure exactly when DJ 4our 5ive released "The Best of Old-School Hip Hop, Volume 1," but it seems he uploaded the mix to a few sites (and his own blog) around November, 2013. It's a nice mix of tracks from MC Shan, Boogie Down Productions, LL Cool J, De La Soul, Kool G Rap, Eric B. & Rakim, Slick Rick, A Tribe Called Quest, Special Ed, Audio Two, Run DMC, Biz Markie, Marley Marl, Ultra Magnetic MCs, MC Lyte and Leaders of the New School. 4our 5ive has DJ'd for some great artists and I gave his 2Pac and GZA mixes a lot of burn in the early 2000s, too. If you're looking for a timeless mix you can just throw on and enjoy, this is another one to add to the list. Listen below...

DJ 4our 5ive "The Best Of Biggie" (Mixtape)

Born in The Bronx, New York where he first found his love of Hip Hop, but DJ 4our 5ive moved to Brentwood, Long Island and attended Brentwood High School with the Rap Duo EPMD. He collaborated with the group to lay scratches on their debut album Strictly Business, released in 1988. DJ 4our 5ive later went on his first 40 city tour, Run’s House headlined by the legendary RUN DMC and Jam Master Jay. Since then he has worked with a lot of great artists and has released several quality mixtapes along the way. This tribute mix to the late Notorious B.I.G. includes lots of album cuts, classic features, remixes and a few slept-on joints. Listen to the mix below... R.I.P. Biggie.
