Airing on February 4, 2004, this is DJ Eclipse and DJ Skizz on the The Halftime Show, their long-running show on WNYU. The theme of the show was a tribute to the years 1993 to 1997, and their esteemed guest was none other than underground titan, J-Live. You'll hear tracks from Channel Live, Nine, Dilated Peoples, Hurricane G, Money Boss Players, Da Youngstas, Kukoo Da Baga Bonez, Mobb Deep & Xzibit, Cappadonna, KRS-One, Neek the Exotic, Hoodratz, Masta Ace, Mr. Voodoo of Natural Elements and lots more. DJ Eclipse "The Halftime Show" (Fat Beats Special, 8/26/10)

Following the news of Fat Beats closing (its retail doors) in 2010, DJ Eclipse - who was instrumental in the success of the company - took the time to do a Fat Beats special on his WNYU radio show, The Halftime Show. With his special invited guest, the President of Fat Beats' DJ Jab, they spoke about the history of the store, the outlook for the future of the company's online store, distribution and the record label, as well as other things. Of course, DJ Eclipse went into a vinyl mix that represents the independent fabric that helped birth the whole independent scene, especially in New York City, which - once again - DJ Eclipse and Fat Beats impacted in a major way. These records take me back - put your headphones on for this one... Much respect to DJ Eclipse, DJ Jab, DJ Skizz, Petey Cologne & Marz One. Thankfully, the Fat Beats store has reopened in Los Angeles; their online store and distro are flourishing, and while DJ Eclipse's Halftime Show is no longer on air, he's still puttin' it down weekly via his Sirius show, Rap Is Outta Control, where he once again teamed back up with DJ Riz. As music is shifting back to independence and vinyl has seen a major resurgence, this is very full circle. Before I forget, additional guests on the show included El Da Sensei of the Artifacts, Ill Bill, DJ Spinna, Amir, D-Stroy & Q-Unique of the Arsonists, DJ Rhettmatic, and more! R.I.P. DJ AM. The Halftime Show "Method Man & Redman" (11/18/98)

Big up to DJ Eclipse, this is 89.1 WNYU, The Halftime Show, on November 18, 1998 with DJ Riz & DJ Eclipse, featuring special guests: Method Man & Redman. In November '98, Red & Mef would have been on their second 'Month of the Man' campaign promoting Method Man's 'Tical 2000: Judgment Day' and Redman's 'Doc's Da Name.' The original campaign was run back in '94 for 'Tical' and 'Dare Iz a Darkside' through Def Jam and they have been going strong ever since with solo and collaborative releases. From DJ Eclipse: "Riz setting the show off and me getting on around 77 minutes in like usual. Mic break at 46:19 and again at 121:37 with guests Redman and Method Man. Not too much talking and then straight to the freestyle (125:07) with Red, Meth, Mr. Loose and La The Darkman. 20+ minute freestyle session right up to the end of the show." "Here goes another Halftime show from '98 with guests Eminem and Royce Da 5'9" (85:53). Short interview right into the freestyle session (if only cats today were as hungry as the 90s generation). As usual, Riz sets off the show lovely and then half way through I get on to finish up. Always good listening to the mic breaks to see what was going on during that time (i.e. Tramps shows, Fat Beats in-stores, new mixer...thanks Fat Beats!). The Halftime Show "Non Phixion, Arsonists, Big L" (Aug 19, 1998)

"This show had mad guests this night. After a short interview (53:58), Non Phixion, Arsonists and Necro hit the mic for an ill freestyle session (62:45). Then a little later A.G. and Ghetto Dwellas get busy (101:49) leaving it to Big L to close it all out (112:16). Even hearing Q-Unique talk about his MC battle at Club Vinyl (51:45) is dope when he runs down the list of emcees that made it past the prelims (i.e. Pumpkinhead, Poison Pen, etc). The Halftime Show "Stretch & Bobbito" (9/23/15)

To kick off their promotional campaign for their upcoming movie "Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives", the duo came by The Halftime Show to talk about the documentary and everything KCR related. As soon as the two of them were in the place together and we turned on the mics it was 1994 all over again. Jokes were flying, phone calls were taken and info was shared about the history of their come up. Even after Bobbito left, Stretch stayed and we had another discussion about his career as a DJ and the decline of his interest in the music that was being made in the late 90s, early 2000s. I also played all 90s Hip Hop on vinyl and incorporated another WKCR alum, DJ Homicide aka Hungry Jack to help out with the instrumentals. DJ Riz & DJ Eclipse "The Halftime Show" (3/4/98)

"Here's the 1st ever episode of The Halftime Show. Riz & I stepped to Lynn Gonzalez who at that time had the Wednesday night slot and asked her if she wanted to join forces. After some initial hesitation she agreed and thus The Halftime Show was born. Unfortunately, Lynn wasn't able to make the show, but in her place was T.O. Sweet who had his own show on WNYU. Listening back the show was definitely a little rough around the edges, but we made it work. Riz spun the first half of the show, I spun the 2nd half. We had A-Butta and L-Swift of Natural Elements as our guests, which led to a couple dope freestyle sessions (96:16 & 104:25). Mr. Len from Company Flow was hanging out with us in the studio as well. This was before Serato and CDJs so every time we had to play an exclusive we would have to stop the mix to throw on the dat. A lot of the music played represented what was also going on at Fat Beats at the time. The good ol' days." Peace to Eclipse!
